On a marketplace the title is not branding — it is the main ranking signal. Amazon, Allegro and eBay each run their own search engine, with their own character limit and their own preferred word order, which is why one title copied across all three underperforms on all three.
| Amazon | 200 characters, but mobile search results cut off at roughly 80. Some categories enforce lower limits of their own. |
| Allegro | 75 characters, raised from 50 in September 2023. The tightest limit of the major European channels, so the main phrase has to come first. |
| eBay | 80 characters. Punctuation is wasted space — eBay's search tokenises on whitespace. |
| Etsy | 140 characters. Descriptive phrases work better than brand-first titles. |
| Cdiscount | 132 characters, with a restricted character set — avoid symbols other than commas, hyphens and slashes. |
| OTTO | 70 characters for the model name field. Exports fail outright above it. |
Promotional words belong in promotions, not titles. The tool flags the usual offenders — ‘best’, ‘sale’, ‘free shipping’, ‘hot’ and exclamation marks. On Allegro, warranty information belongs in the structured warranty field, never in the title or description. On Amazon, all-caps words and decorative symbols are a common reason for rejection.
We write listings for a living, and the same three mistakes come back every time: a title copied between channels, a title over the limit that gets silently truncated, and promotional words that trigger a suppression. This tool catches all three before upload. For a full catalogue the same work is done with scripts and validated upload files — that is Listing Production, priced per channel however many products you have.
